Promise

There are moments in life that are just plain hard. Some trials. Some years, even.

Some days, I cannot find a kind soul or a kindred heart or a single gesture of friendship or reciprocated grace.

Sometimes, I watch too much news, get sucked in by headlines and weep over articles. The world seems scary, unknown, overwhelming.

The deeper I stare at what is around me and seek goodness, the harder it seems to elude me.

Life can feel out of control. We can feel fear overwhelm. It can feel like darkness has dispelled all the light. We can feel an unreasonable urge to grab those we love and hold on tight, feeling like it is our job to be the only protection they have. We can feel like such failures when we can’t keep all the pain away from those we love. We can feel..hopeless, dragged down and dragged along by life.

Feelings lie.

God does not.

Feelings change.

God does not.

People fail. We fail.

God does not.

He makes promises. He keeps promises. He is the promise and we are children of the promise.

He promises ..The sun shall not strike you by day, nor the moon by night – Psalm 121

He promises .. for those who love God all things work together for good Romans – 8:28

He promises .. if you seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you – Matthew 6:33

He promises .. plans for good and for a future and a hope – Jeremiah 29:11

He promises .. overwhelming victory through Christ. Romans 8:37

The promises. Real, unending, unchanged, solid and firm. Stand on them. Plant your feet. Remember you are a child of the promise and declare victory over the hard days.

Always,

Skye
