Do you know that about God, He sings..can you even?
Oh, what a sound that would be!
I am praying I am quiet enough tonight, with a heart that is aching, to hear it.
Not just the beauty of a God who gave music, who loves music – but the beauty of knowing that He would sing over ME.
And over you.
Not just a mighty warrior – but He is indeed that.
Not just the creator of the mountains, or the one who summons and stills the storms – He is that awesome.
But also, a tender Father holding a shaky daughter and..singing.
He meets me in the sadness, and sings.
Calmer, deliverer, my source of joy.
He just loves me because He is love.
And because He is love, He sings over me.
I can only imagine that the roar of..
all the taunting of the enemy
..is no match for, is simply drowned out by, the singing of the Lord of All Creation.
What darkness could possibly be heard over the very music of light?
A sudden thought just poured in and just as suddenly, I know its true:
Darkness must fall silent when met with the singing of the living God.
Evil has no voice when it intersects with the song of God.
He sings over us because it is yet another form of protection.
As we rest, He sings and His song holds the voice of the enemy at bay.
As He calms us, all else falls silent.
The LORD is in His holy temple; let all the earth be silent before Him” Habakkuk 2:20
Praying that truth sinks deep into my heart tonight, deep into yours if you need to feel that.
If the voices of your hurt, of your past, of brokeness, guilt or lonliness need to be muted – know that the God of the universe is singing over you, and let all else fall silent.
Good daddies sing to calm their littles.
Same story here.
I’m listening, Lord.
The cacophony of the storm is growing faint, and the hurt is subsiding.
His love IS a song.
Wrap us in Your song tonight, Lord.
Listening for the song and Authentically Yours,
“The LORD your God is in your midst, a mighty one who will save; he will rejoice over you with gladness; he will quiet you by his love; he will exult over you with loud singing” Zephaniah 3:17
